Dear Reader,
Welcome Paranormal Romance author Margaret West! She tells us about some of her recent releases, and what just what happened when she received a phone call about her first publishing contract.
SBR: What inspired your decision to write?
MW: I used to work for the James Bond movie makers. Watching the script writers as they put together characters and create a whole world of imagination, inspired me to write my first novel, Abigail Cottage, over 25 years ago! It went from typewriter, to floppy disc, then to hard drive. That book was determined to see the light of day.lol
SBR: Do you research your books? What kind of research do you do?
MW: I do if some of the story is nonfiction. With my 2010 release The Heart of a Warrior I researched the Navajo Indian and their traditions to death. This is a romance between a UK nurse and a Navajo Chief. So it was quite tricky weaving in fiction with nonfiction.

SBR: Do you have any new releases? Tell us about them.
MW: I sure do. In December 2010 Abigail Cottage was released. This a dark paranormal. I think because I wrote it when I was younger, my characters are more dark and spiteful. Nowadays, they seem to be more affable.lol You can also download the first chapter free on Kindle, or if you have a blackberry or iphone mobile, you pay a small amount and can get a chapter free too. Spirit Intervention released in Jan 2011. This is a comedy romance about a mother coming back from the spirit world and helping her daughter find a man. Unfortunately she caused so much chaos, now her unborn grandchildren may never be born at all!
SBR: Do you want to share an excerpt of your latest release, Spirit Intervention?
Excerpt: Patricia tutted, miffed at being excluded from Sally’s evening. “If she thinks I’m going to stay at home and miss all the fun, my daughter doesn’t know me at all,” she declared, to the empty room. “I’m going to be there the exact time she discovers the consequences of her, so called, little white lies. She’ll thank me for it in the end.” Squeezing into the back of the car, Patricia was glad to be etheric. It may have four seats, but this car is only meant for two people. She prayed that sally’s in experience as a psychic meant she won’t sense she is there. Judging by the fact she hasn’t mentioned going back to the spiritualist church, she isn’t going to |
be either. As long as she stayed on the periphery of her daughter’s aura, she will be safe from detection. Something new she had learnt from a man called Sid, who died during a tooth extraction. How unlucky. Who on earth dies at the dentist nowadays! She looked at Sally’s skirt, raised up over her knee and frowned disapprovingly. Far too much flesh is exposed there. He had better not get any ideas and keep his eyes on the road. Sally in a fish restaurant! She cannot miss this miss. It will be hilarious. Not that she wants her daughter to embarrass herself. But she does need to learn this valuable lesson about truth and lies.
Such a nice car. Such a shame she is not in the front, Patricia mused. The opportunity to ride in such luxury never arose when she was alive. She stared at Emilio’s profile, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. He is too attractive. With that olive skin and coal black hair, he will melt any woman’s heart. Snappy dresser. Wealthy, judging by his taste in cars. But a gigolo. She can tell straight away. You can’t trust an attractive man.
SBR: What was it like to sign your first publishing contract?
MW: Very hot! This will make you snigger. I was mashing potatoes in the kitchen when my daughter gave me the phone. I hooked it on my shoulder and continued to mash until it sunk in a publisher was offering me a book contract. I was so shocked the phone dropped into the potato and I had to fish it out and continue the conversation with hot mash pressed onto my ear!!
SBR: What are your hobbies?
MW: Mmm, I don’t really have time for hobbies. I work two jobs and I am also a working Medium, Psychic development tutor, Angel therapist, and much more. In fact if you go here http://magsx.blogspot.com/ you can learn all about my spirit work. A lot of authors contact me for information when they are writing paranormals.

MW: I like both, but I have dogs as they seem to keep me company more. Plus they force me to go out to walk them or I would be squirreled away in my office for ever lol I have a mad Huskamute. He has his own Facebook page lol look for Odin West!! Really, he does!! SBR: What kind of television shows do you watch? MW: I’m a trekie..sad I know.
